FAITH, FAMILY AND COMMUNITY SINCE 1974
Our History
For more than fifty years, generations of faithful have built St. Nectarios through prayer, sacrifice, service and hope for the future.

The Beginning
In 1974, a group of Greek Orthodox Christians in Chicago’s northwest suburbs began organizing a new parish. After consulting Church leadership and gathering local families, the community received an Illinois charter in the name of St. Nectarios, honoring the beloved modern saint and wonderworker.
The first services were held in November 1974 at Rolling Meadows High School, near the feast of St. Nectarios. The parish’s early years were marked by worship, fellowship, fundraising and rapid growth in Sunday School and Greek School.
A Permanent Home
In 1976 the parish purchased property near Roselle and Palatine Roads. A small building was renovated into a chapel, and a Door Opening service was celebrated that September.

Our Mission Today
To be the foundation of faith, family and community by inspiring people to follow Christ.
Continuing the Mission
St. Nectarios has grown from a small gathering of faithful into a large and active parish serving Palatine and the surrounding region. Its story is not only about buildings, but about families worshiping together, children learning the faith, ministries caring for others and parishioners offering their gifts.
Become Part of the Story
Visit, worship, serve and help carry the faith forward for future generations.
