Language, Faith, Culture and Community
Learning another language opens the door to new ways of thinking, communicating and understanding the world. Learning Greek also connects students with a language that has shaped education, literature, history and the Christian faith for generations.
The St. Nectarios Greek School provides a welcoming and engaging environment where students can develop their Greek-language skills while building a deeper appreciation for their faith, heritage and culture.

About Our Greek School
The St. Nectarios Greek School Ministry is committed to providing a pleasant, nurturing and engaging learning environment where students can discover their talents, build confidence and develop new skills.
Our program helps students learn to communicate in Greek while also exploring the language’s connection to Greek history, culture, traditions and the Orthodox Christian faith.
Through classroom instruction, activities and community celebrations, students are encouraged to take pride in their progress and develop a meaningful connection to their heritage.

Our Mission
The mission of St. Nectarios Greek School is to teach and preserve the Greek language while helping students grow in their appreciation of Greek Orthodox faith, culture and identity.
We seek to provide students with the knowledge and confidence needed to use Greek in meaningful ways while understanding its importance within their families, their Church and the wider world.
Our goal is not only to teach a language, but also to help pass the richness of our faith and heritage from one generation to the next.
The Students' Experience
What Students Learn
Our Greek School program is designed to help students develop skills appropriate to their age and level of experience.
Students have opportunities to strengthen their abilities in:
- Speaking and conversational Greek
- Listening and comprehension
- Reading and pronunciation
- Writing and vocabulary
- Grammar and sentence development
- Greek history and geography
- Cultural traditions and customs
- Religious holidays and celebrations
- The connection between the Greek language and Orthodox Christian worship
Lessons and activities are designed to make learning engaging, approachable and relevant to students’ everyday lives.
A Connection to Our Orthodox Faith
The Greek language holds a special place in the life and history of the Orthodox Christian Church.
By studying Greek, students can develop a deeper understanding of words, prayers, hymns and traditions they encounter through worship and parish life. This connection helps children recognize that Greek School is not simply an academic program, but an important part of their spiritual and cultural formation.
Through their education, students are encouraged to grow in faith, participate in the life of the Church and appreciate the traditions that have been lovingly passed down through generations.
Building Confidence and Belonging
Learning a language takes patience, practice and encouragement.
Our teachers work to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable participating, asking questions and developing their skills. Each student is encouraged to make progress at an appropriate pace and take pride in what they accomplish.
Greek School also gives children an opportunity to build friendships with other students who share a connection to the Greek Orthodox faith and Hellenic heritage.
Together, students learn that language and culture are not only subjects to study. They are living traditions that connect families, generations and communities.
Celebrating Greek Heritage
Throughout the school year, students may participate in cultural, religious and community activities that bring classroom learning to life.
These experiences help students:
- Practice speaking and presenting in Greek
- Learn about important holidays and historical events
- Explore Greek customs and traditions
- Develop confidence in front of family and community members
- Celebrate their progress with classmates, teachers and parents
- Strengthen their connection to St. Nectarios and the Greek Orthodox community
These shared experiences help make Greek School meaningful, memorable and enjoyable for the entire family.
